FEDERAL LE TACTICAL BONDED LE9T1 - 9mm 124gr Bonded Hollow Point.
Federal's Tactical Bonded ammunition built for law enforcement use is
designed to deliver deep penetration with strong expansion.
The bullets loaded into this line of ammunition bond the lead core to
the copper jacket. The bonding process is designed to ensure that
regardless of the barrier that this bullet penetrates, the lead core and
copper jacket will not separate from each other. During impact, when a
lead core separates from its jacket, the result is that there is no
longer enough mass to achieve sufficient penetration to reach vitals.
This Tactical Bonded line of ammunition is a great fit for law
enforcement with its deep penetration.
This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable, nickel-plated brass cases. It was acquired as a police trade-in.
This is top of the line, American-made range ammo - it doesn't get any
better than this for personal protection. Designed for Law Enforcement
and occasionally made available to the general public through police
"Bonded ammo is used to retain the maximum amount of bullet weight
allowing for deeper penetration of the round. It's often used in
"special teams" such as SWAT where there's more of a propensity to fire
the round through barriers such as glass. Once the bullet has pushed
through the glass, you want it to have enough weigh left to hit and
incapacitate your suspect. Bonded ammo does that where standard
jacketed rounds won't. They're also better for the colder climates
where you have people wearing those heavy layers of clothes. Standard
hollowpoints can get bogged down in those Michelin man styled coats and
multiple layers." officer.com forum

"Whatever you choose, make sure you fire at least 500 and preferably
1000 failure free shots through your pistol prior to carrying it. If
your pistol cannot fire at least 1000 consecutive shots without a
malfunction, something is wrong and it is not suitable for

"Purchase a consistent, robust performing duty/self-defense load in
sufficient quantities (at least 1000 rounds) then STOP worrying about
the nuances of handgun ammunition terminal performance."

"Bullet designs like the Silver Tip, Hydra-Shok, and Black Talon were
state of the art 15 or 20 years ago. These older bullets tend to plug up
and act like FMJ projectiles when shot through heavy clothing; they
also often have significant degradation in terminal performance after
first passing through intermediate barriers. Modern ammunition which has
been designed for robust expansion against clothing and intermediate
barriers is significantly superior to the older designs. The bullets in
the Federal Classic and Hydrashok line are outperformed by other ATK
products such as the Federal Tactical and HST, as well as the Speer Gold
Dot; likewise Winchester Ranger Talons are far superior to the old
Black Talons or civilian SXT's."
